Did you know that there are species of jellyfish that can completely generate new cells and - in theory - live forever? Collectively, they are known as ‘immortal jellyfish’. If they can avoid infections and being eaten, their ability to reset their cellular age means they can live indefinitely.
Why can’t humans live like Benjamin Button? Well, we believe it is only a matter of time before cellular scientists can, at the very least, advise on the steps to take to dramatically extend our life expectancy. After all, our DNA is surprisingly similar to both jellyfish and sharks and, living off the coast of Greenland, the Somniosus Microcephalus shark can live up to the ripe old age of 500!
What if you could live to an age of over 120 without chronic illness or the need for drugs, and with both your mind and movement wonderfully intact? Well, we are here to tell you that we believe it’s possible. We believe that in the future, as scientists discover more about cellular biology, we won’t be seeing the lifespan of jellyfish and sharks as anything out of the ordinary – and that excites us!
At Primal Living, we focus on supplements and ideas, as well as scientific evidence and research that can have a profound anti-ageing effect on the human body. We pay close attention to the ‘information theory of ageing’, which assumes that “decreased functionality of the whole organism and its systems, is a result of decreased functionality of cellular repair mechanisms”.
Effectively, it is the idea that ageing is due to the loss of information in cells over time. But what if you could recover it? Or at least delay it? Well, it appears that through good nutrition, avoiding chemicals and a few other lifestyle improvements, it is possible.
Wouldn’t it be great if you could dramatically slow down the ageing process?
We believe you can. After all, your DNA blueprint to be young is always there, even when you are older (by the way, we never say old, but older – there is no such thing as being old).
But what if we can reset the ageing clock and prevent cells from ever losing their identity? What would happen if, like the jellyfish, we could live forever – or at least for longer, like a shark – or keep regenerating parts of ourselves by stopping cells from becoming senescent (where cells in older people start to lose their ability to reproduce)?
The big question is: How do we go about reprograming our cells to achieve a shark-like lifespan?
To do this, we must find ways to get our ageing cells to continually re-read their DNA blueprint. Understanding this process can be tricky, so we like to compare it to cleaning a dirty DVD.
Over time, a DVD gets dirty or scratched and stops working properly; this can be due to overplaying or mishandling. The DVD has 30 miles of spiralled grooves containing data, but wear and tear can cause it to jump – certain parts may even get destroyed altogether.
(Coincidentally, the DNA in our cells holds about the same amount of information as a DVD, but is held in a structure that would measure six feet in length if laid out flat).
To restore your DVD, you have two options: purchase a more sensitive player, or give it a good clean with soapy water. Cleaning is anything that removes epigenetic noise (the disruption of gene expression patterns).
Sure, eventually you can’t clean the DVD anymore – but you can certainly prolong its life.
Remember, your DNA retains the information it needs to be young again. Just like cleaning the DVD, epigenetic noise is not a one-way street; it turns out that with the help of sirtuins (our self-repair molecules), cells that have lost their identity can be led back to their true selves.
Our Guiding Principles:
The human body is extremely complex, which is why everything we’ve discussed may sound confusing. However, it can be simplified by following our three guiding principles:
- Internal Supplements & Nutrition
There is plenty of research and evidence that demonstrates how Omega3, certain foods such as sardines and green vegetables, and supplements like glucomannan, NAD, turmeric, resveratrol and vitamin B3 work on a cellular level.
In our labs, we work meticulously to produce the finest grade supplements possible.
There are some fundamental biological reasons as to why intermittent fasting, ketogenic diets and autophagy are healthy and should help add not only years to your life, but also life to your years.
External Supplements (topical)
Our largest organ, our skin, is permeable and as chemicals pass through it, they enter directly into our blood (they don’t get filtered by the liver). Therefore, it is important to treat our skin with extreme care.
Of course, there is more to it than just this, but you're in the right place to discover all the latest ideas and research on getting the most out of your years and unlocking your true potential.
Welcome to the near immortals!
